Hotel Casa 1800 Granada is located in the Albaicín, the Arab neighborhood where artisans used to live and where later Castilian culture also established its workshops, just a step away from the best shops. We have a great tradition of craftsmanship and markets with all kinds of products. Luthiers (guitar makers, as they like to call themselves), beautiful antiques, gourmet shops, goldsmiths, major clothing brands, sportswear, footwear, cosmetics and perfumery. Will you dare to get a custom-made hat, or a perfume made exclusively for you?
Visit La Alcaicería, the ancient silk market, where merchants used to carry and choose the richest and most sumptuous fabrics and the best spices. You will find beautiful examples of hand-painted Granada tiles and wonders of marquetry with the same designs from the 14th and 15th centuries that were used in furniture and ceilings of the Alhambra. The San Agustín Market, built in 1881 on the ancient site of the San Agustín convent, has traditional stalls and good places to buy delicacies such as natural jams and Granada honey with origin denomination.
On specific dates and coinciding with the changing of seasons there are several markets: the first weekend of the month at the Mirador de San Nicolás we have the Water Market, with local craftsmanship. The first Saturday of the month, next to the Palacio de Congresos, there is an ecological market with products from the Valley and Costa Tropical, as well as non-food products with a clear environmental proposal. The last weekend of September, coinciding with the celebration of the Virgen de las Angustias, our patron saint, we have the Book Fair and the Autumn Fruit Market. You can find native autumn fruits from Granada such as almecinas, acerolas, azufaifas, winter loquats or pomegranates. In December Granada lights up with Christmas lights, and there are Christmas markets at Fuente de las Batallas and Plaza Bib-Rambla.
