In Granada, music festivals take place from March to September, combining national and world-famous artists. At Hotel Casa 1800 Granada, we can arrange tickets for any event you want to attend – the hard part is choosing! There is the Festival of Early Music of Granada, the International Festival of Music and Dance with flamenco and contemporary dance shows, the International Jazz Festival, the International Tango Festival, with musicians and dancers that will make you want to learn how to dance. Special mention to flamenco and our Zambra (from Arabic origin zamra, flute), Arab wedding music integrated into flamenco in the Sacromonte during the persecution of the Moriscos.
In April, Holy Week is celebrated, with the brotherhoods parading their images through the center of Granada and Albaicín. The main day is Maundy Thursday, with more public attendance as the brotherhoods most followed by all Granadians come out, La Estrella, La Aurora, and La Concha, with the Albaicín neighborhood as the protagonist. On May 3rd, Day of the Cross, you will see streets, squares, and shops adorned with crosses made of flowers recreating the ancient corrala courtyards. In June, the Corpus Christi festivities are held, established by the Catholic Monarchs as the main celebration in Granada, with a religious procession through the most central streets of the city.
